Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 10, 2026

This policy explains how Paul Michaels Events DJ Company ("PME", "we", "us") handles personal information. It covers two different groups of people, and we say clearly which parts apply to which:

  • Website visitors — anyone browsing paulmichaelsevents.com or sending us an inquiry.
  • Clients and event guests — people who book us for a wedding, corporate event, or private party, and the details they share with us while we plan that event.

1. Who is responsible

  • Company: Paul Michaels Events LLC, doing business as Paul Michaels Events DJ Company
  • Location: Chicago, IL (studio visits by appointment)
  • Email: [email protected]
  • Phone / text: (773) 850-1763

You can contact us at any time with a privacy question or request.

2. What we collect from website visitors

When you use this website, we may collect:

  • Contact and inquiry details you type into a form: name, email address, phone number, your city and state, event type, event date, venue, budget range, how you'd like us to reply, and anything you write in the message field.
  • Job applications: if you apply through our careers page, the answers on the application plus any resume file you upload. Resume files are stored privately and are only visible to our hiring team.
  • Marketing and referral information attached to your visit: the page you landed on, the website or ad that referred you, and campaign or click identifiers passed in the link (for example UTM tags and Google Ads click IDs). We use this to understand which advertising and search results actually bring us inquiries.
  • Approximate location and technical data: general location derived from your internet connection, browser and device type, and the pages you view. We sometimes note the general area a form was submitted from to gauge whether an event is inside our service region and to help spot spam. We do not track your precise GPS location.
  • Spam-prevention signals: our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is submitting the form.

We do not ask website visitors for gender, date of birth, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or payment card numbers, and we do not run a newsletter list.

3. What we collect from clients who book us

Once you hire us, planning an event requires more detail. Depending on the event, that can include:

  • Names and contact details for you, your family, your planner, and your other vendors.
  • Event logistics: venue, timeline, room layout, load-in details, music requests and do-not-play lists, announcements, and special dedications.
  • Details that may reveal sensitive information. To run your event correctly we may record religious or cultural traditions (for example a Jewish ceremony, a mitzvah service, or a specific blessing), the names and relationship of a couple, dates such as a birthday or anniversary, and family relationships. We collect this only because it is needed to perform the event you hired us for — never to profile you and never for advertising.
  • Information about children for events centered on them, such as a bar or bat mitzvah, sweet sixteen, or school dance: the child's first name, age or grade, school, and music or activity preferences, provided to us by the parent, guardian, or school that hired us. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children through this website, and we do not market to children. A parent or guardian can ask us to correct or delete these details at any time.
  • Contract, invoice, and payment records. Card payments are handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.

4. Why we use it

  • To reply to your inquiry and prepare a quote (including scheduling a consultation).
  • To plan, staff, and perform your event, and to share only the necessary logistics with the DJs, hosts, and technicians working it.
  • To send booking confirmations, planning reminders, invoices, and post-event follow-up such as a review request.
  • To review job applications.
  • To keep the site secure and free of spam, and to measure which marketing brings us real inquiries.
  • To meet legal, tax, and insurance obligations.

Where the law requires a legal basis (for example the GDPR), we rely on: performing our contract with you; your consent (for cookies, marketing analytics, and text messages); our legitimate interest in running and securing our business; and legal obligation. Where sensitive information is involved, we rely on your explicit provision of it for the purpose of delivering your event.

5. Text messages and preferred contact method

Our forms ask how you'd like to hear back. If you choose text message, you are agreeing to receive text messages from us about your inquiry and event at the number you gave us. Message and data rates may apply, message frequency varies, and you can reply STOP at any time to stop receiving texts or HELP for help. Choosing text does not obligate you to buy anything. We do not sell or share your phone number with anyone for their own marketing.

6. Client portal accounts

Clients and staff sign in to our portal at portal.paulmichaelsevents.com using a one-time link sent to their email address, so there is no password for us to store. Signing in creates an account record with your email address, sign-in timestamps, and the event information tied to you. Staff accounts are limited to the information each role needs.

7. Cookies, analytics, and advertising tools

We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Necessary: keeping you signed in, remembering your cookie choice, and Cloudflare Turnstile spam checks.
  • Analytics and advertising: Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, and Google Ads conversion measurement, which tell us how people find the site and which inquiries came from which campaign. These load only after you accept them in our cookie banner, and we do not load them for our own signed-in team members.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choice at any time through the cookie banner, and you can block cookies in your browser settings. We also load fonts from Google's font service to display the site.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or rent advertising space on this website.

8. Who else sees your information

We share only what is necessary, with:

  • Our own DJs, hosts, and event staff working your event.
  • Service providers who run our systems: our hosting and database provider (Supabase), our website platform, our email and phone/text providers, our payment processor, our scheduling tool, and Google's analytics and advertising services described above.
  • Your venue or other vendors, when coordinating your event requires it.
  • Authorities or advisors when the law requires it, or to protect our rights.

Some of these providers operate in the United States. If you contact us from outside the U.S., your information will be processed here.

9. How long we keep it

  • Inquiries that don't become bookings: up to three years, so we recognize you if you come back.
  • Client and event records, contracts, and invoices: as long as needed for the event plus the period required by tax, accounting, and insurance rules (generally seven years).
  • Job applications and resumes: up to two years, unless you ask us to remove them sooner.
  • Website analytics: per the retention settings of the tools listed above.

10. How we protect it

Access is limited to the people who need it, sign-in is passwordless for the portal, uploaded files such as resumes and event media are stored in private storage rather than public folders, and data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfect, but we review access regularly and only keep what we need.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, the California Privacy Rights Act, and the Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Montana, Oregon, Texas, and Utah privacy laws), you may have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you and get a copy.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer need.
  • Withdraw consent, including for texts, marketing cookies, or a review request.
  • Opt out of targeted advertising or the sharing of information for advertising, and object to certain processing.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Email [email protected] or call (773) 850-1763 and we'll take care of it. We aim to respond within a few business days and always within the timeframe the law allows. If you're in the EU or UK you may also complain to your local data protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we do not charge for reasonable requests. You may use an authorized agent.

12. Automated decisions

We do not make decisions about you by automated means alone. We use software to draft replies and organize event details, but a person reviews the work.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated to active clients directly.

Text messaging and your mobile number

If you give us your mobile number and check the consent box on one of our forms, you agree to receive text messages from Paul Michaels Events, LLC about your event inquiry, quotes, scheduling, appointment reminders, and account updates. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of purchase.

We do not share or sell mobile phone numbers, or the fact that you consented to texts, with any third parties or affiliates for their marketing purposes. Mobile numbers are shared only with the messaging providers we use to deliver those messages on our behalf, and only as needed to send them.

Message frequency varies based on your inquiry and event; you may receive up to 10 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages, or HELP for help. Our full messaging terms are in our Terms of Service.
