SBSM 83rd Annual Meeting Brings a Packed Dance Floor to The Westin Chicago
By Paul Michaels Events

A great dinner can bring people together, but a great dance party can take the evening to a completely different level. That was certainly the case for the Society for Biopsychosocial Science and Medicine (SBSM) during their 83rd Annual Meeting in Chicago.
On March 14, 2026, George Degnon and the SBSM group gathered at The Westin Chicago for their annual meeting celebration, and Paul Michaels Events was there to provide the music and keep the party moving.
By the end of the night, the dinner had turned into a packed dance floor, complete with line dances, requests, and plenty of energy.
From Dinner to Dance Party
The evening began with dinner, giving everyone a chance to relax, catch up, and enjoy time together after the day's events.
DJ Paul Michaels provided the music throughout dinner, creating an atmosphere that complemented the meal without taking over the room. Once dinner was finished, though, it was time to turn things up.
The transition from dinner to dancing happened quickly.
One of the songs that immediately got everyone's attention was Pharrell Williams' "Happy." The song had been selected ahead of time, and when it came on, the dance floor filled up almost instantly.
That's always one of our favorite moments at an event: when you can literally watch the room change as people leave their tables and head toward the dance floor.
Line Dancing Takes Over
Once the SBSM guests started dancing, they didn't want to stop.
The group requested several of their favorite line dances, creating those great moments when a large group of people can all participate together. There's something special about a line dance at a corporate event because you don't need to be the best dancer in the room. You simply follow along, laugh with your colleagues, and enjoy the moment.
The dance floor stayed active as the night continued, with DJ Paul Michaels mixing in familiar favorites and taking requests from the crowd.
The result was exactly what you hope for at an annual meeting celebration: people having fun together outside of the conference setting.
A Great Night at The Westin Chicago
The Westin Chicago provided a beautiful setting for the SBSM celebration, but it was the guests who really made the night memorable.
The response from the crowd was fantastic. At the end of the evening, the guests gave the DJ an enthusiastic ovation, which was a great way to finish the night.
We also received some unexpected feedback from the Westin staff. Hotel employees who were working one floor above the event commented on the sound quality they could hear from upstairs.
That's something we take seriously. Great event sound isn't just about making the music loud. It's about creating a clean, balanced sound that works for the guests in the room while being mindful of the venue and surrounding spaces.
When the Guests Are Ready to Party
Every event has its own personality. Some groups want a relaxed evening with background music and conversation. Others are ready to take over the dance floor as soon as dinner ends.
SBSM definitely fell into the second category.
From "Happy" to the group's favorite line dances, the music gave everyone a reason to get up and participate. The energy on the dance floor was a great reminder that even a professional conference or annual meeting can end with a genuine party.
That's what we enjoy most about providing entertainment for corporate events. The formal part of the evening may have a schedule, but once the music starts, you get to see a completely different side of the group.
Planning Your Next Chicago Corporate Event?
Whether you're planning an annual meeting, awards dinner, conference celebration, or corporate party, the entertainment can make a big difference in how the evening ends.
For SBSM, the 83rd Annual Meeting finished with dinner, dancing, line dances, and a room full of people enjoying themselves together.
Paul Michaels Events is proud to provide DJ and MC entertainment for corporate events throughout Chicago and beyond. We work with each group to understand the type of event they're planning, the music their guests enjoy, and the kind of atmosphere they want to create.
And sometimes, all it takes is one song to get the entire room on the dance floor.
